Marktab.net provides information supporting data mining and machine learning. This portal focuses on SQL Server data mining technology, and maximizing the investment many organizations have already made in SQL Server, Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), SharePoint, Windows Server, and applications built with the .NET framework.
By an authoritative definition, data mining is “the process of analyzing data to find hidden patterns using automatic methodologies” (MacLennan, Tang, Crivat, 2009). Data mining – as used in the academic and predominant commercial usage – is more than someone drilling down on a SharePoint portal or Excel PowerPivot. Data mining applies sophisticated mathematics (typically applying linear algebra) to estimate and sometimes calculate values for decision making. Another term I (and others) use, with equivalence, is “machine learning”. For a longer contextual discussion on data mining, see my paper “Why use Microsoft Data Mining?” published on the Microsoft website.
If you are a data miner, then this website is for you.
